Marek’s Bar & Bistro welcomes visitors to its historic restaurant which is the redesigned home of “Captain Bill” Collier, the founder of Marco Island. Located in the Old Marco section on the north end of the island, you’ve driven past it on your way from your rental to the famous Snook Inn.
The restaurant serves a combination of modern American food and classic British pub food. The atmosphere is casual and cozy with outdoor seating. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday with service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The American side of the menu features multiple House Specialties, including several cuts of steak, pasta, and duck. Some of the standouts in the “English Corner” include Cottage Pie, Chicken Curry, or Shrimp Curry.
Many reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp note the menu is not particularly kids friendly unless they are adventurous eaters.
Visitors can enjoy their meal with wine ordered by the glass or by the bottle. The wine menu includes bottles from multiple regions, including France, Italy, and California. A selection of top-shelf liquor can also be ordered at the bar or with dinner.
Marek’s offers Happy Hour specials from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. A Special Bar Happy Hour extends to 7:00 p.m. and includes a selection of drinks and appetizers.
The restaurant offers guest live music every Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Sun King has only dined at Marek’s once and didn’t think it was quite up to par. Many would argue with this assessment. The Sun King knows several people for which Marek’s is their favorite restaurant on the island. Perhaps he caught them on a bad hair day. Certainly, the historic aspects of the property are interesting and seem to transport you to Old Marco.
