Flying into Naples, Florida isn’t inconvenient despite the fact that there isn’t a commercial or major airport in the immediate area. The Naples Municipal Airport doesn’t serve major airlines in any way. It doesn’t even have puddle-jumpers to carry you to one of the big airports in Florida. Fortunately, we have several airport options that aren’t too far away.
The closest commercial airport to Naples, Florida is Southwest International Airport in Fort Myers. The locals simply refer to this as the Fort Myers Airport. It serves all of the big airlines. It’s only about 32 miles to the north of Naples on I-75. The ride to downtown Naples shouldn’t take more than 35 minutes.

The next closest airport to Naples is the Punta Gorda Airport in Punta Gorda, Florida. Located about 60 miles north of Naples on I-75, Punta Gorda is served only by Allegiant Air. This low-cost carrier is a great option because it offers direct flights at very low prices. Rent a car and be in Naples in about an hour.

If you plan on seeing some sights on the east coast of Florida, we recommend flying into Fort Lauderdale Airport. It’s less congested and easier to navigate than Miami International. If you’ll be coming directly to Naples, it’s just a straight shot across Alligator Alley to the heart of the city.

Not our favorite airport, Miami International does have its benefits. Often you can find economical flights into MIA. Plus, if Key West or South Beach is on your itinerary, Miami may be the most convenient option. It’s located about two hours from the center of Naples. The shortest route to Naples is the Tamiami Trail (US-41). It’s a two-lane road through the Everglades. If you’d prefer taking the interstate over, Alligator Alley is less scenic but is just as quick.

If your Naples vacation will include some time in the Tampa Bay area, Tampa International is reasonably easy to navigate. While it may seem inconvenient being located over two hours from Naples, your drive down will be by great Florida destinations like St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Anna Maria Island, and Sanibel/Captiva.

If you have little ones, you’ve probably already purchased your Disney World tickets. Getting to Naples (assuming you survive Orlando) will be a 3.5 hour relaxing drive through the heart of Florida.
