When you’re planning your trip to Marco Island, you’ll probably want to know where to shop for groceries. You can save a lot of money by skipping the restaurants and cooking in your vacation rental. There are three grocery stores on Marco Island – two Publix stores and one Winn-dixie. The most convenient of the three is probably the Publix located in the Marco Town Center shopping center on Collier Blvd. Unfortunately, this one is slightly smaller than the other two and sometimes lacks the variety of grocery products you might expect. The Winn-Dixie is just a few blocks down the street at the intersection of Collier and Elkcam, across from the Esplanade Shoppes. The second Publix is off the beaten path for many but has a large selection of items and a great seafood section. Many locals choose the Publix at the intersection of San Marco and South Barfield as their favorite.
If you want to grab a few hoagies on the way to the beach, Publix makes probably the best sub sandwiches on the island. They make them with Boar’s Head meats and cheeses and they’re always fresh.

All three grocery stores on Marco Island sell wine and beer. The Publix on Collier also operates a liquor store next door within the Marco Town Center. Similarly, the Winn-Dixie has a liquor store adjacent too. The large Publix located near the Estates on the east side of the island has plans to add a liquor store when it remodels in the coming year.
Not all Walmarts sell groceries, but ours does. The Super Walmart is only about ten minutes off Marco Island. Widely known for reasonable prices, the Walmart grocery store can be well worth the short drive, especially if you’re doing a lot of shopping. Of course, this one is not only a grocery store, but it’s also got everything from swimsuits to auto parts. There is also a well-equipped pharmacy there too.

Aldi, the discount grocery chain, celebrated the grand opening of a new store in 2019. It is in the same shopping complex as Walmart, about ten miles from Marco Island. Aldi is starting to compete with the largest supermarket chains in the United States. In southwest Florida, where everything is just a little more expensive than some other parts of the country, Aldi is a welcome sight. Between Walmart and Aldi you’ll find savings in Naples.

This specialty shop stocks the freshest seafood on the island. If you want Chilean Sea Bass, King Crab Legs, Grouper, Lobster, Mahi or any of a two dozen other kinds of seafood, Paradise Seafood and Gourmet Market is the place. This small and unassuming little shop is overflowing with goodies. Chef Scott works tirelessly to find the “best in class” grocery items and has put together a fantastic selection that will satisfy the gourmet in you. Bring a couple mahi steaks back to your rental house and create a feast for your crew.

There isn’t a Whole Foods grocery store near Marco Island. The nearest one is in Naples at The Mercato Shops at Vanderbilt Beach and Tamiami Trail. If you want the most upscale grocery experience you can get, Whole Foods has got it. I’ve heard the prices are a little lower these days which is good.

Located about 40 minutes from Marco Island on Immokalee Road is Seed to Table. Why would we suggest a grocery store this far away. When you enter Seed to Table, you’ll see why. It is a grocery store like none other. There are several restaurants inside. The bakery is not a grocery store bakery, it’s a real bakery. There is live music playing and guests are hanging out at one of several casual bars. Good luck finding a parking spot at what me be the hottest place in town – a grocery store.
If you’re going to be staying on Marco Island or in Naples for a while, you may want to stock up on groceries and other essentials, Costco is the closest wholesale club to Marco Island. It takes about 30 minutes to get there in the off-season and can take over 45 minutes in the busy winter season. We recommend you combine the Costco trip with something like a visit to 5th Avenue or something like that.
