2Shea’s Salty Dog rose from the ashes of Rookie’s, a long-time favorite on Marco Island. Besides a total facelift to the decor, the menu got overhauled as well. It offers guests classic American bar food and caters to an energetic fun-loving crowd. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to midnight.
Notable standouts in the menu include a selection of “Authentic Street Tacos” with a choice of fish, tuna, beef, Thai Chicken, and a vegetarian option called “The Tree Hugger.” Other items on the menu include burgers, steaks, fish and seafood, among others. Kids are welcome and the restaurant offers a children’s menu with choices including favorites like Hot Dog and Grilled Cheese.
The restaurant is most known for being flush with TVs which makes it a great place to catch a sporting event. Guests not interested in watching sports or looking for a more quiet dining experience can opt to eat outside.
The restaurant is owned by Sean and Jamie Shea who were part owners of Rookie’s sports bar which opened in 1992.
The Sun King loves the Salty Dog. The indoor-outdoor bar is great. The fish tacos are terrific. The beer could be a wee bit colder for the Sun King, but that’s nitpicking. The burgers are fantastic.
After a long day on the beach perfecting his famous tan, the Sun King loves to hop on his bike and ride down to the Salty Dog.
2Shea’s Salty Dog is located across the street from the Marriott Crystal Shores and
Hilton hotels and attracts a combination of tourists and locals looking for basic American bar food in a casual and welcoming environment. You can walk there from pretty much any beach condo south of the JW Marriott and many of the waterfront condos on the south end of Marco.
